Roulette Unit Calculator: Convert Money, Chips and Bets

Choose a reference stake, then see what your roulette bets cost in money and chips. With a 2.00 base, a nine-unit package costs 18.00. The calculator converts an amount, checks the total bet size and shows how many complete rounds your budget can fund without returns.

Convert an amount and price a round

Use the same currency for every money field. Enter amounts with up to two decimal places, using a dot or comma as the decimal separator and no thousands separators. This is a conversion tool; it does not choose a recommended stake.

Separate the base stake, chips and total round cost

A betting unit is a reference amount you define. A chip represents a denomination accepted at the table. One spin can contain several positions, each with its own stake.

Base unit: 2.00

A three-unit position costs 6.00.

Chip value: 1.00

That position needs six chips of this denomination.

Round: nine units

The complete set of positions costs 18.00.

Likewise, a stack of two chips on one number is one betting position with two chips. It is not two different numbers. Count money placed across all positions when working out the total round stake.

The conversion formulas

Money = unit count × base value
Unit count = money ÷ base value
Chip count = money ÷ chip value

A fractional chip count is an accounting result, not a playable fraction of a physical chip.

Ten units can mean twenty chips. Check the denomination on each position, not only the total.

For example, 25.00 at a 2.00 base equals 12.5 units. Fractional unit accounting is valid even though the package input above accepts whole units only. Whether 25.00 can be placed depends on the available denominations and the chosen positions.

Amounts in the chart can be read in any one currency. There is no exchange-rate conversion: a unit worth 2 USD and a unit worth 2 EUR are separate money values, despite using the same number.

For reverse conversion, divide by the base value. With a 2.00 reference stake, amounts of 50.00 and 100.00 equal 25 and 50 units respectively. At 5.00, the same amounts equal 10 and 20.

The Orphelins row refers to the five-unit split-based version, not an eight-straight version. The neighbour row means two neighbours on each side plus the centre; other sector widths cost different amounts.

Seven positions, nine units, seventeen pockets

A standard Voisins package uses nine base units across seven positions and covers seventeen distinct numbers. These are three different counts. At a 2.00 base, its cost is 18.00, regardless of how many covered pockets eventually qualify as winners.

The package cost does not imply one uniform payout. For the return on a specific pocket, use the call-bet outcome map. For your own combination, use the multiple-bet calculator.

Total chip count does not validate every position

Suppose one unit is 2.50 and the only available denomination is 1.00. A two-unit round totals 5.00, or five chips. But if that round requires one unit on each of two separate numbers, neither 2.50 position can be made using whole 1.00 chips. Divisibility of the total is insufficient.

A 0.50 denomination would represent each 2.50 position with five chips, subject to the table’s limits. The bet placement guide explains the positions themselves.

How much of your budget does one round use?

The arithmetic is budget ÷ unit value. A 200.00 budget contains 100 units at 2.00 each, or 200 units at 1.00 each. That comparison does not establish a universally safe number of units.

At nine units per round and a 2.00 base, the round costs 18.00: 9% of a 200.00 budget. Without any returns, that budget funds eleven complete rounds and leaves 2.00. It does not fund 100 nine-unit rounds merely because the opening balance contained 100 base units.

A percentage refers to a defined budget

If you choose to express a base as a percentage p of an opening budget B, the formula is u = B × p/100. For an illustrative B of 200.00 and p of 1%, u is 2.00. This is a conversion, not a recommendation to stake 1%.

Keeping that base fixed is different from recalculating it after every result. At a later balance of 180.00, the fixed 2.00 unit is about 1.11% of the balance; a newly calculated 1% unit would be 1.80. Label which approach you are using.

Funding count is not session length

The no-return count is a budget division. Real session length depends on payouts, overlaps, stake changes and stopping conditions. Use the session simulator to explore a stated model, and the strategy comparison for differences between staking rules.

A larger next step can exceed the remaining budget

At a 2.00 base, the Martingale steps 1, 2, 4 and 8 units cost 2.00, 4.00, 8.00 and 16.00. Four full losses total 30.00. From a 40.00 opening budget, 10.00 remains, but the next 16-unit step requires 32.00.

There is still money left, yet the planned progression cannot continue. Treating every spin as a one-unit cost would hide that constraint. The Martingale calculator handles the progression and its limits in more detail.

A table minimum can also conflict with a proposed unit. If a position requires at least 5.00, a 2.00 one-unit position is too small. Raising it to 5.00 changes the money exposure; it should not be silently presented as the original 2.00 plan.

Record profit in money and in units

A standard 35:1 straight-up win at a 2.00 stake earns 70.00 profit and returns 72.00 including the stake: +35 units net and 36 units gross. If another 2.00 straight-up bet loses on the same spin, total round net is 72.00 − 4.00 = 68.00, or +34 base units.

Relabelling 180.00 as 180 smaller units did not reverse the 20.00 loss. For records with changing bases, calculate money profit first or convert every entry to one common reference unit.

Changing bet size does not change the house-edge percentage

For a standard fair European straight-up bet, a one-unit result has expected net (35 − 36)/37 = −1/37 units. With a 2.00 unit, that is −2/37 in money, an expected loss of approximately 5.41 across 100 bets at that fixed stake. Doubling the stake doubles this money expectation while leaving the percentage unchanged.

Common questions

Is one unit always one dollar?

No. You define its money value. State the currency and base amount before comparing a strategy or result with someone else’s record.

Can one unit be smaller than a chip?

Yes as an accounting reference, but a one-unit position may then be unplaceable. For example, with a 0.50 base and only 1.00 chips, two units equal one chip.

Does a 100-unit budget mean 100 spins?

Only as a no-return funding calculation for a fixed one-unit total stake each spin. Multi-unit packages and progressions consume different amounts, while returns can fund further play.

Does a smaller unit improve the odds?

No. With the same wheel and positions, changing money amounts does not change which pockets win. It changes money exposure and may affect whether the planned bets fit the budget and table limits.
